As of August 30, 2016, a new opposition procedure has been enforced. The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) will publish the trademark application within10 business days of receipt. Third parties can file an opposition within 30 days from the date of publication.
As per Trademark Act BE 2534 (1991) as amended by Trademark Act (No. 2) BE 2543 (2000) and Trademark Act (No. 3) BE 2559 (2016) the opposition term is now 60 days rather than 90 days, for trademarks issued on or after July 28, 2016.
